Some people profess an interest or a love of history, but even the majority of those do not see the constant threads and connections of every event of the past affecting every event of the present.
As everyone reading this knows I have gone through a "change of life," a "change of nature," even though I still daily wrestle with my sinful and fleshly nature I strive daily to walk more pleasing and acceptable for and before the Lord.
So I believe in God's word, the Scriptures, as I trust, it is my hope each person I send this to does, so our history will involve Biblical history in what I am about to write.
We have all the problems we do today because of past and present disobedience to God. I want to illustrate one example of past disobedience, which is in the news daily, and which impacts every single person on this planet no matter their age, background, economic status, whether they are a believer in God and Christ or they are non-believers, and this impacts everyone no matter where they live.
Since the beginning of Israel and the Jewish people almost every other nation and people the Jews and Israel have encountered sought to exterminate them from the face of the earth. The ironic thing is if the Jews and Israel were to be eradicated from this earth the earth would cease to exist. The people who believe in grave error "If only we could get rid of these pesky Jews the world would be so much better," fail in their ignorance, their blindness, and their serving of Satan to have the knowledge that the world would not be better. The world would not be at all.
If anyone reading this does not believe in God, or Jesus Christ, and thinks Israel and the Jews are nothing special please allow me a few minutes to provide some much needed background. I will be as brief as possible while still providing adequate knowledge. I also want to let readers know, if not aware, that I am a gentile. If anyone reading this harbors in their heart or mind the feeling or thinking, "It is not fair that Jews are God's chosen people," all I can say is woe to you for presuming to know the mind and purpose of God, woe to you for thinking and feeling yourself on par with God to decide what is, and what should be. Until you can breathe life into something and create everything from your own will you must be subject to God, not on par with God. As we will see when men think they know better than God and disobey is when all our problems begin.
I will use references not used all the time to illustrate where we're going on this particular journey. Everyone should know by now the history of Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation. And Abraham's son Isaac, and Isaac's son Jacob, who literally wrestles with God and is brought to total submission, and changes his name to Israel, which means, "He strives with God {and prevails.}"
I want to move ahead to Moses and Pharaoh, Amenhetep II, son of the great Egyptian conqueror and oppressor Thomthmes III.
The Lord spoke to Moses, and told him to go to Amenhetep II, the Pharaoh;
"Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the Lord, "Israel is My son, My firstborn. So I said to you, 'Let My son go that he may serve Me'; but you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn." ' "

Israel, the nation of people is God's son. His firstborn. Your opinion of this does not matter. It is the work of God and God's choice for His reasons.
So how does this tie into today's history? Very simple really. Disobedience to God. Why we have all of our problems today, and why the Middle East is as it is.
God was very clear. No ambiguity. No gray areas. Today's psychology laden mind and person drowning in their perceptions of what is right and wrong, and what represents "civilization" have it all backwards. Twentieth and Twenty-first century thinking has only muddled and made matters worse. Not better. Our polluted doctrines, our teachings of men and their vain and false instruction have only increased the schism between God and man, and increased the individuals and the worlds troubles a thousand fold. If the Israelites had obeyed God rather than be lured by the gods of the people they were to conquer in The Promised Land the world would be a very different place. The modern mind can't accept God's civilization, which if obeyed God's way would have resulted in a more civilized and better world. Again, man thinks himself either on par or superior to God, or most believe God to be completely irrelevant and that they made all the decisions on what is and what should be.
Moses in Deuteronomy, upon receiving instruction from God, made it very clear to the people of Israel what they were to do.
"When the Lord your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashhites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and stronger than you,
and when the Lord your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them.
Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons.
For they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods; then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you and He will quickly destroy you."

But the people did not heed, they did not obey. They conquered to a point and then stopped. They began to assume they knew better than God, and to forget God altogether. Until more suffering came their way. They did intermarry. They fell away repeatedly and had to suffer much tribulation and distress, always vowing again to obey God, living for a time in peace and prosperity, only to once again begin worshipping other gods, relishing in the culture and rituals of those they were instructed to conquer.
It may seem brutal and barbaric to most Twentieth and Twenty-first century minds to go in and completely destroy another people. Most people think and equate such an action in their limited thinking of tyrants, dictators, and truly evil men they know about throughout history. When a man, or men take it upon themselves to murder and exterminate a whole race or nationality of people who certainly is the most heinous of crimes.
But what God instructed the people of Israel is not even close to that. God has no part in sin or unrighteousness. God's word is just and with Divine reason, and to be obeyed. Through the battles and the bloodshed God knew if the people obeyed they would live in peace and prosper, and that a greater civilization would result. The people would not be swayed and tainted by following other gods, absorbing other rituals, and that the people were deceived into by their lusts and vanities into thinking they could live in peace with the people they were told to conquer and destroy, and show no favor. God knew. The people were ignorant. That is why people need God. Even the smartest among us is nothing but ignorant when it comes to God and His plan.
Yes, God is a jealous God! God makes demands. So what? Again, when you can breathe life into mud and you can will everything that exists into existence then you can begin to question God. Don't even begin to broach the thought you are on par with God, or can question one thing God has ever done. No one is worthy of such thoughts. Does not history reveal this to us very clearly? What more do people need to witness than example upon example through history of how disobedience to God brings pain and suffering, and that man and his little thinking, his selfish thinking is not even to be considered in the same breath with the wisdom and rightness of the one true God?
All the above took place about 3500 years ago. Give or take a few hundred years. Had the people of Israel obeyed God the Middle East would be a very different, and much more stable place today. Through the people's disobedience they were also told by God they would constantly suffer and have those which persecute them. God does not lie. The world lives daily in the foolishness of men which preceded them, and still the people of today make even graver mistakes than those which preceded them, learning nothing! As the suffering and persecution God proclaimed never abates.
That does not justify then a person today thinking it is okay to condemn and persecute Jewish people. Woe to anyone thinking such a thing! Israel and the Jews are still God's firstborn and chosen people. Anyone persecuting a Jewish person is persecuting God and serving evil and Satan!
My point is that there is always suffering. Always wars. Always tears and pain. Had Israel obeyed, even though all the people of the above mentioned seven nations in the passage from Deuteronomy would have been eradicated from the earth in battle with Israel from 3,500 to 3,000 years ago, our current world would be more peaceful and civilized. Sometimes civilization comes through death and war. Provided one is on God's side, and contrary to the world view of every nations claim God is on their side. God truly is only on one side. The side of righteousness. Claiming a false god, or a man made religion is on your side, and is the same as the one true God might confuse the majority, but it is nothing but a lie and an abomination in truth. Many people are ignorant of the close ties between Nazi Germany and the Roman Catholic church. There is much documented proof of this unholy and evil alliance in which Hitler and his henchmen worked very closely with the Roman Catholic church to met out the goals of the Third Reich. One interested in truthful history can even find many historical photographs of Hitler and his top men, his generals laughing and side by side with bishops and cardinals of the Roman Catholic church as they plotted together. We know our God, the one true God certainly was not on their side, even though to the eyes of blind men and women more eager to follow a man, or a robe of pretty fabric and color than follow God it might appear differently, but then blindness can never follow light and the truth can it?
Do not be deceived or misled.
If you think all violence, all wars, all bloodshed is wrong and uncivilized you need to really examine and learn more history and truths, more facts. Here, I'll make it easier on you. Is the world more civilized because Nazi Germany was defeated and lost WWII?
If Hitler and his minions of the Third Reich had been given the New Age psychological treatment so prevalent today, the majority view of our day, and people had thought they could reason, reach out, negotiate, include, and strike a deal with Hitler to bring about peace and harmony they certainly need to learn more history and truths.
Hitler signed many peace accords when he came into power. He honored none of them.
Today all the world wants to think about is peace, love, and harmony. They preach tolerance yet exhibit the least degree of tolerance in history. They refuse to acknowledge the facts of human nature and push God completely out of the picture. They daily deny the realities of life and all that make up being human, only wanting to think on or discuss the best traits while ignoring the reality of the prevailing traits of man. As they do this they deny God more and more elevating themselves higher and higher as they do not merely forget God, but they laugh at God and those that believe in God.
God is still always there and He will not be mocked.
There is only one right side. God is rightness. Righteousness. And God is in control and decides. Not you. Not me. Our decision is in believing and accepting His Son Jesus Christ and living our lives accordingly, serving and obeying, subjecting and submitting ourselves to God and Christ. That is each individuals part and choice, and ultimate reason for being given life.
To either serve God and Christ and receive eternal life, or to serve the world. Instead men and women are caught up, enslaved in the teachings and seductions of man, woman, and this world, thus serving Satan and perishing.
True civilized behavior doesn't always appear to most people as it really is. If one takes the time to study the Old Testament they would find many answers. Also, without Israel there would have been no Savior Jesus Christ and no salvation for man and woman.
People better decide which side they are on and begin to make their choices as to who to serve and how to live, and enough of this "we're all good people" malarkey already. Your brain has been overly washed. Time to get your heart and spirit in order and get your mind working properly instead of having it in the perpetual "wash" cycle.
